The World Health Organisation defines health as: “A state of complete physical, social and mental well-being, and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.”

Our private health checks involve a range of tests that provide an in-depth medical check of your health, fitness and general well-being. Our aim is to detect subtle changes early so that we can identify potential health problems and address them. We provide tests, advice and guidance that can reduce your risk of future health problems, giving you peace of mind. After your health assessment the doctor will follow up with a report that includes a health action plan.

Richmond Practice offers a range of private health checks for men, women, children and companies. Anyone can book an appointment with us, Monday to Saturday, and you don’t need a referral from another doctor. We also welcome people visiting the UK from other countries. We will ask you to complete a health questionnaire and some of the tests require you to fast for 12 hours before your appointment. The doctor’s assistant will usually see you first. All our health checks include a 20 - 60 minute consultation with a doctor, where you can discuss the examination, tests and specific problems. Test results usually take 2-3 days although some take 5 days. Our doctor will then provide you with a report and a health action plan for you to follow. If necessary we can refer you directly to private medical specialists.

Types of medical conditions health checks measure      

• Tests for chronic disease prevention (hypertension, diabetes, heart disease). We measure blood pressure and pulse; heart rhythm (electrocardiogram); calculate body mass index (BMI); heart disease risk score; test kidney function and blood for diabetes and cholesterol.
• Tests for cancer prevention. We measure full blood count and iron levels, test liver function, do urine testing and a stool occult blood test.
